Quelling the Misinformation:  Our History

Dear Visitors,

In the mid-90s, Paragon City's bustling economy was slowing down. Fewer and fewer people were visiting Paragon City for various reasons. The most noticeably hit were those of us in the business of tourism. With less people choosing to come to Paragon City on vacation, theatres, beaches, amusement parks, museums, etc. were suffering. We took the city council to task, and called upon them for aid. Much debate ensued, and it was determined that Paragon City's poor image was turning people away. Why would you want to visit a city reknowned for Nazi attacks and people like Ishmael, the Teal Serpent and Nemesis? The city established the Office of Tourism in 1997 to point out the positive aspects of the city.

The story does not end here, unfortunately. The Office of Tourism (which I like to refer to as the "Office of Manure-ism") failed (and continues to fail) to do their job. They choose to highlight groups like Hero Corps, the Regulators, and Freedom Phalanx in an attempt to make it look like the city was in capable hands. At the time, I blindly supported the OOT like many deluded fools continue to do today. Sadly, they were actually projecting a false image that Paragon City was a war zone that needed to be constantly policed by private citizens who choose to parade around in their pajamas and capes.

Late in 2001, I started catching on to what was going on. In reality, the OOT was just another front project of the Mayor Gonzales and his "super" colleagues to keep them in power. They weren't interested in getting people into the town at all, just ensuring that they could stay. See, the thing is, the city really doesn't need these costumed clowns running around. However, by brainwashing the masses into believing that they are needed, it allows people like Mayor Gonzales, Freedom Phalanx and Hero Corps to stay in the spotlight. Gonzales gets reelected, and Statesman and his monkeys get to use their own brand of vigilante justice. They create goons like the Skuls, the Lost, and the Outcast, while creating lies about The Carnival of Shadows and Crey Industries to further their goals.

Dismayed by my revelations, I sought out to spread the truth. Since standing on a soapbox in the town square and telling people was out of the question (eg "The Lost"), I choose to join the 21st century and start my own website. Thus, in early 2002, the Paragon City Touristry Board was born: a site that attempts to expose the city government and their spandex-clad gymnists for what they are, while trying to accomplish the goals the OOT is actually supposed to be: getting people to come to the city. Unfortunately, that means dispelling the manure they espouse.

Because of this, you'll likely see many other sites, the OOT, newspapers, and even politicians trying to defame me and my work. Lies are a powerful and dangerous weapon, but when those are taken away, they have nothing to stand behind. Rather than own up to what they're doing, they'll choose to call me a "conspiracy nut" and "whacko" for being the real person - a patriot - to stand up for the city. While some of the information might be scary to digest here, keep in mind, I'm trying to show you the real city, and not the war zone that Gonzales and his cronies like to portray. This city is great, and one that deserves to be visited.

Welcome to a little section of the internet that gives you truth about Paragon City, and welcomes you to our fair city with open arms.
